With the sub-freezing temps of late we are seeing most of the action shift to more reasonable hours of the day. Midges and BWO's are becoming prevalent again, but some caddis are still hanging on. The hatchery reach is still the most productive area on the river. Keep in mind that the river below the falls closed at the end of September.

The bull trout fishing has been really good for the anglers who can ignore the presence of steelhead nearby! Egg patterns, flesh flies, and the usual assortment of big and ugly have been producing. Trout: Trout fishing has closed on all portions of the lower Deschutes adjoining the Warm Springs Reservation as of yesterday evening, however it went out with a bang! Trout fishing has been really good over the last few weeks.
