Captain Justin Thompson checked in today and reported a slowish bite this morning, but by late morning, the bite had improved.  Its been an odd year on Shasta and a lot of the usual times and places for catching fish have been slightly off, especially the past week.  Not as many big browns have been caught, and the rainbow bite went from red hot to luke warm.  Fortunately, we've seen an increase in the number of King salmon bites this past week.  Some have been multi pound keeper Kings while a good number have been this years planters that are now about 10"-12".  The smaller Kings are quite honestly hard to keep off our lures which can slow the bites we get from bigger salmon.  The Kings are cutting orange this year, which is a great improvement over the Klamath Kings we were getting in years past.  With a bigger strain of Feather River King salmon being planted and the presence of Kokanee salmon in Shasta, we're seeing a higher quality King salmon population.  We'll continue to catch more Kings this week, especially on the days we target them specifically.  Lets go fishing before the river salmon season takes our guides off Shasta Lake!  Thank you!
