The Lower Deschutes has been fishing well. Nymphing has been the best method and prince nymphs, copper johns,  jimmy legs, eggs, and pheasant tails have all been working well. The cold weather has the fish holding in deeper, slower moving water and it can be beneficial to use tungsten beaded flies or a bit of split shot to make sure they're getting down nice and deep. Swinging sculpin, leeches, and crayfish patterns is another fun way to target some fish. There are steelhead around throughout the system and if you catch a wild fish please leave it in the water and release it quickly.
