The Lower Deschutes is fishing well. Nymphing has been the most productive with a variety of things including stoneflies, october caddis, leeches, eggs, pheasant tails, Berry’s PCPs and copper johns to name a few. Don’t forget that the tribal side of the river is now closed. Steelhead are throughout the system and have been caught both swinging flies and nymphing, if you catch a wild fish please leave it in the water and release it quickly. Dry fly activity has been pretty sparse but having some BWOs on you is never a bad idea. As always swinging around sculpin, crayfish, leeches, and small buggers is always fun on the lower.
