The Madison in the Park has lots of run-up browns and rainbows but will be high, off-color and difficult to fish. I'd head downstream of Hebgen Dam and fish, or better yet, go below Raynold's Bridge where the water will be in better shape. Nymphing has been superb as has streamer action. Rubber leg stones, $3 Dips and SJ's will bring lots of fish. Check with us for more!

Report Date:

The Firehole should fish fine on opening day. Soft hackles swung in all likely spots should provide good sport. Be looking for PMD's to emerge in selected spots along the river. You will want to stay downstream of Midway Geyser Basin for best dry-fly action if it does materialize. Make sure to stop in for fly ideas and fly tying materials as well as your Yellowstone fishing permit.......

The river from Quake downstream will fish well when Baetis emerge in the afternoons. I would be looking for March Browns to come off near McAtee Bridge and upstream to Moose Creek.
