This will be the last weekend for winter steelhead fishing in the Alsea basin as it closes April 30. Winter steelhead are still moving throughout the Alsea system. The fishery is still open but steadily coming to a close. This fishery has been fair over the last week. The Alsea will river level has gone back down over the past few days and is going to continue a downward trend into the weekend. Temperatures have risen, and fish are more active.

The later returning wild broodstock hatchery fish are being caught in the NF Alsea. Boat and bank fishing has been slow over the past week. Wild and hatchery steelhead have been caught and conditions have remained challenging.

Trout fishing will reopen on May 22.
