We are getting reports of Spring-run Halfpounder Steelhead being caught in the Sailor Bar area. There are small Steelhead in there 12 to 18 inches and larger eating caddis and salmon fry. This is usually good March, April and May if we don't get any more big storms. I would look for them from early morning till noon and again about 3:00PM till dark in most riffles from the Nimbus fish hatchery downstream to Watt Avenue.
At this time of year we have some wild Spring-run adult Steelhead that run 4 to 6 pounds too. There are two biologist who have been doing a study on them now for several years.
Be sure to get a new 2007 fishing license, Delta Enhancement stamp and Steelhead punch card.

We have not had a recent report but it would be worth looking at. There are usually good insect hatches this time of year. Try mid-afternoon till dark for some action. It has not rained in a while so the river should be clear. The magic flow is usually under 1000 cfs for really wide open fishing at this time of year but that seldom happens.
