Chetco River Fish Report for 2-24-2019
Dont Ever Give Up
Chetco River - Brookings, OR (Curry County)
by Mario Gomez
This last week was a grind for winter steelhead, we went from freezing cold, to monsoon rains. Spent the last week working hard for our fish and sometimes the bites occur when you least expect it. So enjoy the trip and make sure you dont ever give up until the boat is on the trailer.
Fished on a rising river and went all day without a bite and just when the boat was getting pretty quiet and it appeared all hope was lost, PLOW the rod goes down and after a crazy fight a 12 pound buck hits the net. Motored back up to where we got our bite and casted to the same spot and just as the sinker hit the bottom I yelled JERK JERK JERK and fish number 2 was on. We went from 0 to 120 real quick and after a few high fives, and a couple pictures we headed for take out and called her a day.
