Flows are perfect for a good fishing experience. Fish are spread out so cover lots of water. Look for rising fish in the shade of large ponderosa pines. Expect excellent hatches of large black drake (Siphlonurus) swimmer mayflies. Swimming mayfly nymphs are very abundant in sections with abundant flooded shoreline. Dragonflies and damselflies will also be hatching in good numbers therefore large olive wooly buggers work very well.
Best fishing for warmwater fish is above and below the town of Sprague River. Yellow perch and brown bullhead are abundant in this section. Bait is allowed from Saddle Mountain Pit Road to Godowa Springs Road at Beatty.
