Winter steelhead fishing is in full swing on the North Fork Nehalem, and should be prime as the river drops back into shape. It will most likely be fishable on Wednesday, though a little on the high side. Thursday through the weekend should be excellent conditions and I would expect a good push of fish.

The mainstem Nehalem stays muddy much longer than other systems on the North coast; not sure if it will fish this week. Also, there are no hatchery releases into the mainstem, and it’s still early for wild steelhead, so numbers will be low.
