Report your hunt

If you purchased a tag for a 2022 hunt, you must report by Jan. 31 – even if you didn’t hunt or were unsuccessful. Information from hunters who did not hunt or did not harvest an animal is as important as from those who did take an animal. Find ways to report.

Apply for your spring bear tag

The spring bear controlled hunt season will open April 1, but the deadline to apply for your tag is Feb. 10. That deadline will be here before you know it! Learn more about how to apply.

Go eagle watching at The Dalles Dam this Saturday

Each year migrating bald eagles congregate around the Dalles Dam on the Columbia River in incredible numbers! To help you learn more about them, the US Army Corps of Engineers is hosting an Eagle Watch on Saturday, Jan. 21 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Sign up for a hunting seminar or fishing workshop

ODFW offers a variety of hunting and fishing workshops and seminars throughout the year. Upcoming events include:

Make the best of late season duck hunting

Here are 11 tips to help you get the most out of the waning days of duck season.

Best bets for fishing

This weekend’s best bets include winter steelhead, sturgeon and ice fishing.

  • Winter steelhead season is in full swing in most areas, and with water levels falling, many rivers will be in great shape for the weekend.
  • On the upper Columbia, sturgeon retention will be open in The Dalles pool on Saturday, and in the John Day pool Saturday and Sunday.
  • Ice fishing for trout and/or yellow perch has been good where the ice is thick enough.
