Fishing was good Saturday afternoon in the sun, with a lot of fish surfacing and some trout visible in the water column. One angler caught 8 rainbow trout in four hours of fishing, five of which were 14-16 inches. The fish were caught on either a green wedding ring or a blue wedding ring spiked with worm and trolled behind a small egg sinker (to try to stay above the weeds).
Some fish were caught trolling a spruce fly. Trolling diagonally between the resort and the bank opposite Doe Point can help trollers stay out of the weeds. A good number of anglers were fishing from the bank. One bank angler caught a nice trout on PowerBait.
Fish Lake is slowly filling from spring input and is now 39 percent full. Both the resort and USFS boat ramps are open, but the USFS ramp is probably limited to small boats. Watch out for near shore stumps while launching.
Any tiger trout caught should be immediately released unharmed. Anglers are encouraged to report their catch or any other fish stories to Rogue Fish District Staff 541-826-8774.
