Fall Chinook is still open but the fishery is coming to a close on the Salmon River. The past few weeks of rains have moved fish high into the system and onto spawning grounds. Fall Chinook closes Dec. 31. ‌

Early winter steelhead have been entering the system though the bite hasn't picked up yet. With the rains coming in, the fishery has set up similarly to the Alsea where those early fish coming in went high into the system quickly. As the river levels drop and clear out, fishing conditions should be excellent moving into the Holiday weekends. ‌

Check your regulations before you head out
