Thief Valley Reservoir is over 90% full after almost completely draining in early September. It was assumed that the low reservoir level killed off any remaining fish, but we have recieved reports that anglers are catching 16-18 inch trout. Additionally, it was restocked on October 1st, 2025 with 30,600 4–4.5 inch rainbow trout.

The harmful algal bloom advisory for Thief Valley Reservoir was lifted on 12/23/25. Follow this link to see the Oregon Health Authorities website showing harmful algae bloom advisories.

Currently, the reservoir has ice extending out from the shore, which is preventing fishing from the shore. The ice is still too thin to walk out on.
