This is the time of year to come see our majestic Grey Whales in all their glory. May through October we are so fortunate to have these resident Friendlies in our area. We have outstanding Kelp Forests in our area which support our mysid shrimp which the Whales have to eat a ton a day to survive. They are the size of your fingernail clipping so that would be hundreds of thousands of these tiny creatures.
We are proud supporters of the Oregon Kelp Alliance which supports our necessary Kelp Forests as they are critical to all ocean habitat. Please support them also!
Did you know that the Grey Whale was known as the Devil Fish as they capsized and sank more boats than any other whale when they use to harpoon them mainly for lamp oil before electricity. Now days they are the absolute friendliest Whales around as more often than not they swim right up to our boats. They love putting on a show and are as smart as they come. When they winter in the Baja to have their babies they actually poke their heads out and want to be petted. That tells us they are the absolute smartest creatures in the ocean! That is recent evolution at its best!!
Please come join us to witness these incredible beings at their finest. We would love to have you on board! Its really easy to book online at Tradewindscharters.com and/or give us a shout at (541) 765-2345.
