Winter steelhead fishing improved on the Siuslaw River as the river dropped back into shape over the weekend and into this week. Anglers were doing well in the Whitaker Creek area. The forecasted rainstorms this week will have the river blown out through the weekend and into next week. Expect more fish to be around the Whitaker Creek area when the river is fishable again.

Lake Creek opened for winter steelhead fishing on Dec. 1. Steelhead fishing should pick up after the rainstorms that will have the river high and off-color for most of this week..
