An appreciated shout out to Nancy at Thundering Shores for this great photo she took of the newest addition to our fleet, The Kingfisher!
Our majestic Grey Whales have been putting on quite the shows lately. The sightings have been phenomenal for the last month with dozens of different whales.
They have been slowing down and hanging around Depoe Bay to load up on feed for the rest of their journey North. They stop for our abundant Mysid Shrimp which hang around our massive Kelp Forests.
We are proud supporters of the Oregon Kelp Alliance which works toward the preservation of our Kelp. Kelp is vital for the entire Ocean food chain as it supports our Bait Fish also. It sustains all Sea life and we are fortunate to have these aquatic plants.
Please support ORKA as well as it is a critical Organization for all Sea Life!
Our magnificent resident Whales are expected any day now for even better shows which they love to give us!
Did you know.....The Grey Whale was known as the Devil Fish when they use to harpoon them for their valuable oils mainly to light lamps. They capsized and sank more boats than any other species. Now 100 years later they are the absolute friendliest as they swim right up to our boats to say Hi! They actually know our boats and us! We are so honored! Down in the Baja during calving season in the winter they even poke their heads out and want to be petted! Evolution at its finest!
This also tells us they are the smartest mammal around!!
Dar she Blows!!! And here she comes!!!
If you would like to go fishing or whale watching with us please BOOK ONLINE or call (541) 765-2345.
