The Upper Deschutes River above Benham Falls reopened May 22. Anglers report excellent fishing the headwaters reach for redband trout, brook trout, and mountain whitefish and good brown trout fishing in the Wickup Tailwater reach of the Deschutes River.
In late summer fly anglers might find success in the Upper Deschutes with hoppers, ants and beetles. The Deschutes River Arm of Wickiup Reservoir from the boat ramp at Gull Point to the markers upstream of Sheeps Bridge will close to angling on September 1 to protect spawning kokanee.
