The Green Drake hatch is still rolling on the Metolius and fishing is remaining as productive as this river will allow. Keep in mind that this hatch happens much later in the day than most other mayfly hatches, often starting after 4:00 PM. The Drakes are being joined by regular PMD hatches as well as plenty of caddis and little stones, all of which can get the trout to the surface. We are also starting to see a few Golden Stones out and crawling already. This hatch is not far off. Long leaders and fine tippets rule, and florocarbon tippet helps a lot. Bull trout fishing has taken a back seat to the Green Drake hatch, but remains pretty good.
