Howard Prairie has started to fill with recent rain and snow, and is at 11 percent full. We don’t have any recent reports from Howard, and with high snow levels and low temperatures still above freezing for the foreseeable future, don’t expect much for ice on the lake.

Deeper water is available at various points near the dam, and water from Grizzly Creek at the upper end of the reservoir or springs near Red Rocks may provide some opportunity once ice is solid enough to walk on. Anglers are encouraged to check road conditions through ODOT Trip Check prior to traveling to Fish Lake, and to check the ice fishing guidelines at the top of the zone report.
